Remanufactered Starters with Life Time Warrenty
Aloha,
Just wanted to thank the forum for all the great posts and threads.
Just got my '00 F150 7700 back on the road. Didn't realize how much
I missed the truck after two weeks without it. I generally use my '94 Wrangler for everyday use.
Long story short, I went through 2 remanufactured-Life time starters from O'Reillys. First one had a problem with the solinoid (not bench tested upon purchase)-would have saved me about an hour of install/uninstall.
Second starter bench tested and worked upon initial install. Upon restart-nothing, only solinoid click on firewall(new BlueStreak). Took back and
decided to "upgrade" to new starter. $40 additional later plus a none- refunded $5 core charge, truck is running. The second Lifetime warrenty
starter was so bad that I had to find a nut to use as a spacer for the upper( creature from hell) mounting tab. Kept trying to tighten without
being able to see the not. It would tighten then slack as it tightened against a sloped tang.
Moral of the story, thanks to the forum I learned much abouot my truck.
Second, for $40 more I invested about 2 weeks of doing without my truck plus about $100+ of time for me to change out the three starters. Better
to go with new than rebuilt for the price difference.
Much Mahalos(thanks) to:
dcor, papa tiger, bubba bud, fbfan, good old Bill, Bucko, austin97, and others that contributed to all the search of posts I did. Great forum, I
am proud to be a part of such a knowledgable and friendly/helpful group.
Much Mahalo from Hawaii!
Onomea.
