Default Recommendations for rust treatment

Hello everyone, I have a 2002 SCR EW that has rust on the bottom of the drivers rear door. Eventually I would like to get it repaired by a body shop, but do you have any ideas what I could do to stop the spreading until I am able to do that? I posted some pictures below.

At one time there was stuff called rust mort. It is brushed on or applied with a spray bottle. It changes the rust into something and stops it. Eastwood has rust encapsulator. It prays on clear. Have used it for years restoring cars.

Most of that rust is coming from the inside. You must get treatment to the inside or it will continue to grow.

If I were to take the door panel off could I access the bottom inside the door? Then perhaps use the encapsulator inside and out?

you could try to grind/sand it down to bare metal and spray it with a rust reformer spray. I did that with my tailgate and has worked out pretty good so far.

The instructions on the bottle say to remove the loose rust . Clean it up and use liberally. There is stuff you can buy, follow same procedure but that stuff actually changes color. Like a funny dark grey. Got that at tractor supply.
As for me I like the rust mort (bought it at Napa) in a spray bottle. It comes in a QT bottle,I just buy cheap spray bottles.

There is also a product we used in a body shop I used to work at called por15. The stuff is awesome! The best way to apply it is with a brush after you remove any lose rust. Apply both inside and out, when it dries coat the inside with a good quality rubberized undercoating.

POR 15 would be my suggestion as well. Brush off loose rust, large scaling, and apply. Be sure to cover your hands/arms very well. The consistency is somewhat like water, and will run all over the place. Be sure to lay plastic down and have plenty of rags/towels around in case of some extra run off. Clean it up immediately! It encapsulates and prevents further rust from spreading. Plus, it's extremely durable, doesn't chip easily with rocks and other road hazards smacking it.

Eastwood is probably your best source.

Yes por-15 is awesome. I use it on restorations. Follow the directions to the T and you will love it.
