1997 Ford F150 Lariat - New Headlights
I ordered a new set of headlights from Oemassive (ebay) and they did not fit my truck, at least the TS/sidelights did not fit. After researching, reading, and watching F150 headlight removal I have some kind of hybrid (built 3/25/96 in Norfolk).
The attached photos show:
- the headlights and the housing comes out in one peice
- when you remove the 2 retainers which is different than the videos/instructions.
- the sidelight is held in place by three screws (see pics)
- I have yet to figure ouyt to pop out the headlights without removing alignment screws.
Does anyone have any idea what this is all about? I also ran into a similar hybrid experience looking for RKE, so I shelved that project for the time being.
Thanks for any insight you might have in advance.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you will need to get new headlights. I have never personally seen or dealt with the one piece design that you somehow got your hands on. The 10th gen F-150s use a two-piece headlight assembly. One piece consisting of the headlight and the other piece consisting of the blinker/lamps. You can pick up a new set of Lightning OEM replicas for around $80 on Amazon or eBay. I do not know what vehicle the pictured headlights would fit on. Could be the 7700s or very early model 1997 F-150s, but not on any normal 10th gen.

Those are the early model (build date 6//96 and earlier) housings. I have not seen anyone that makes aftermarket headlights for them.
AS mentioned above, you will need to replace the header panel to change it to the "newer" style header to use other headlights. I know of a few here that have done it, don't remember their names off hand, seems one of them did a how to on it.
@BFP F150 did his. A pic or 2 of it in this thread

I am fairly certain that the change was made in 98 though, not 99.
EDIT: Oops... I didn't see Blu had already covered that.
My truck's build date is 6/96, so I can confirm the 6/96 is the POS design, lol.

2nd design 97 (after 6/96) and 98 are the same header panel and is what he needs. The pre 6/96 made ones are the ones with the problems. LMC has them for the replacement headers.
