yea, I think I can live with it. I'm hauling some fourwheelers about 100 miles this weekend and I'm driving down to gulf shores at the end of the month, I just don't want to end up broken down 300 miles from home ya know. I really appreciate the help guys. Thanks a bunch.

No, I didn't. I took the rear diff plate off and looked inside, everything looked ok but I'm also not experienced in that field. I changed the rear diff fluid with motocraft 75w140 synthetic from ford and added the 4 oz friction modifier, put on a gasket, and closed it back up. It has been about 2 weeks and it's still doing the same thing.

something to try.. aside from inspecting the brake system, try putting some lucas in the diff. maybe it will quiet the noise down, maybe not. worth a shot, methinks.

What's the latest on your problem. I have a 2010 f 150 and am experiencing this noise. Noticed it after I lifted my truck but right before I lifted it I slide into a curb and busted a wheel. I thought I may have broken something. It defiantly sounds like it is coming from the differential or axle. I am concerned about this noise, but have made several long road trips on it and it has held up, though it seems to be getting worse, or more frequent. Any info would help, I'm in college and $850 does not sound too good but I'll do anything to keep my truck healthy.

Mine turned out to be some chipped teeth in the ring gear. The knocking started after I slid into a curb and broke a rim and bent an axle shaft. Found a complete rearend at the salvage yard for 800

I brought my truck back to ford a few days after I bought it used due to a clicking clunk that was consistent with speed and told em it was the ebrake, (I would've replaced it myself but they should pay for it)... They told me it was a block of wood stuck between the bed and cab (they must've seen all the scrap wood in the bed, I'm a carpenter) so I drive it off the lot with the same condition, went home and the ebrake components fell out upon removing the rotors... Went down and angrily dropped all the components on the counter, walked out and got into my girls car... They called me later on and said it was all set haha
