Really Bad Shake and Hesitation
99 w/ the 5.4 motor...
I was driving home last night in some pretty bad rain. I was doing about 45MPH and hit some water in the road that totally engulfed the truck. The truck immediately acted as if it was going to stall. It regained it's composure and I was fine for the remaining 15mins home.
I hoped in it this morning and it was fine while cold. Once it warmed up it was hesitating bad and has a very bad shake in it. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. I'm up the creek without a paddle right now if this is something major.

I would assume it may have sucked-up some water..remove the air filter..its most likely soaked .. inspect the top of the motor and see if spark plug wells are full of water.

But you seriously thought you could drive it after that?!? either way you might get off easy. As said above, replace air filter and try to take it to a shop that has a live diagnostics scanner tool that will tell you what cylinder is misfiring. Change that coil or however many you blew.

I'd obviously rather not drive it but I was in the middle of home and work so I kept heading towards work. I have access to a flat bed so it is what it is really at this point. Just the last thing I need right now really...

always take deep water slow... just because you have a 4WD and off road tires don't mean you can haul *** through water and not suffer the effects of a flooded engine compartment

Agree... a Hydro-locked motor replacement is not cheap.

Came up on it too quick and really had no where to go. It's parked for now until I can dig into it and see what is up.
