Question "Real" world towing in 02 Supercrew

I'm looking at a travel trailer with a GVWR of around 8,400 pounds to tow with my 2002 F-150 Supercrew, 5.4L; 112,000 miles. Does anyone have experience with this type of load? I'm not sure if my truck has the towing package, but there is a tranny cooler. I just installed a Class IV receiver hitch and plan to use a weight distributing/anti-sway hitch. I suspect I'll need to add the trailer brake controller. Anything else? Thanks.

My step dad had a work van with the 5.4 and he towed and enclosed trailer weighing about 9000 lbs and it got the job done but its very sluggish and it made suspension unbearable and fuel mileage was about 7mpg. He had since bought a 6.4 f250 and gets about 16mpg towing that same load and he can't even tell he is pulling anything

The truck can handle it but your on the heavy side invest in some helper bags or add a leafs to keep her level, and stay far back itll take alot to slow that down. Do you have trailer brakes?
