My '03 F-150 5.4L Triton V8 supercrew has this rattle sound when the truck starts up. Now and then the rattle will rise when taking off. I'll searched around the under belly but couldn't find the source. I've attached a video from starting the truck. Any help would be most appreciated, thanks!

Mine makes the same noise on startup. It kinda makes me think it's the starter.

 

Does it do it on warm starts too or just cold?

 

It does it when its warm and cold. Especially when I'm taking off after a stop.

Yours very well may be your starter refusing to kick down.

Yours is probably timing chain tensioners or guides.

 

Great thanks for the feedback, I'll do more research on trouble shooting the starter now. Any one have a good recommendation of a reliable source online? video and such....

 

There was actually a thread on here in the last week or two that ended up having the starter being the culprit. The thing is I had never hear of this before he posted.
