Remove the 3rd brake light. Check for cracks. Put small amount of silicon and install it back.

The Water is entering from the brake light.

I'll bet you that won't work. Ask me how I know.

I can guarantee you that that isn't the problem.

Take the trim off around you back glass and either pull it and replace the gasket or they make a weatherstriping/gasket adhesive that will work. It is real tacky and a strong bond so be careful when applying it let it sit for a few minute after you put it on a then u can clean it up and shape it so it doesn't look like a mess. Either of these work we have a 2000, 99, and an 03 model all have done the same thing I guess from sitting in the sun both methods work. I prefer the adhesive because it is cheaper and last longer.

Do it the correct way. The brake light idea or caulking it is a poor idea in my view. My leak was getting fairly bad so I decided to caulk it including around the light. I had that nagging voice in the back of my mind yelling "are you kidding me! you know better! this is stupid! do it right!" The day after caulking it I could not stop looking at it. I was thinking to myself how sloppy and ridiculous it looked even though I had done a fairly careful job with clear silicone. I decided to remove the window, trim and caulk and do it correctly. Sure had a feeling of satisfaction when it was done, looked clean and the next day we had a heavy rain and no water came in. Do things correctly one time and you will get further in life.

I still
Haven't gotten all of the caulk out of the plastic surround that the previous owner put in it.
