Default quuck engine swap question

Ok, my 2000 f150 5.4 needs a new engine. If I swap in a used engine, will the pats security system affect it and make it not start? Or is that in ecu?

Ok that's good to know, I heard on the cobras from someone that you can't start the motors without the keys. One of my friends knew this guy that swapped a terminator motor into a fox body mustang and he had to swap the whole dash and original ignition to make it work.

Yep-no worries about PATS. Tight squeeze getting engine out. You'll need to remove the intake manifold or lift the cab off.

I've done a few of these 5.4 swaps. And for me. Pulling the intake. Is the best way to get to those top bell housing bolts.. As for the engine, no worries, You might have to swap around a few sensors. From the old engine. But it is a pretty easy swap. Just a little time consuming.l. Do yourself a favor. And replace all the exhaust manifold head studs. While the new engine is out. Broken studs. Suck. Doing through the fender well. With the engine in the truck. Might want to invest in 2 new manifolds too. Advance auto and napa. Have them cheap. Good luck

Is the engine your putting in new? If not I would go through it and make sure all the gaskets and everything look good also new or not I would put headers on and anything else that would be easier to do with the engine out.

Yea, not trying to be a dick, but I did say I'm on layoff, aka unemployment. I can't afford headers right now, I think I'm just gonna do the vc gaskets, oil pan, rear main, and trans front pump gaskets for now. I might do that whole replacing the exhaust studs, and possibly stainless bolts for the flanges tho in case I want to change everything out in the future. Will exhaust manifold from expedition be the same as the f150?

The frame rails are the same so I would think so.
