Quick tire question
I have a 2002 F-150 4x4 extended cab. I was getting ready to put snow tires on it and I chose a P245/75R16 firestone winterforce...as I'm looking at the door panel the sticker states LT245/75R16D...I thought the Fords didn't require an LT tire until you get into an F250?
Will I be ok and safe using a P metric tire on the vehicle? I don't do any towing, I do use it as a truck though, but no towing or hauling.
I'm kinda particular and OCD when it comes to this kind of thing, I just want to make sure I put on a safe tire for the weight of the vehicle.
Thanks!

You should be fine. Only need an LT tire for heavy vehicles. My 98 f150 ext cab 4x4 has P265/70/17. In my humble oppinion, LT tires ride rougher and I prefer P metric tires. I'd imagine your truck calls for the LT tire due to sidewall ridgitity when offroading, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Any ideas as to why when I run the vin, there are soooo many tire options?
This is what it says:
Front Tire SizeP255/70R16SL, LT245/75R16D, LT265/70R17, P265/70R17, P275/60R17, P235/70R16SL Rear Tire SizeP255/70R16SL, LT245/75R16D, LT265/70R17, P265/70R17, P275/60R17, P235/70R16SL
Why so many? If it had the 245/75R16 it's recommended to use an LT...but if you have the 255/70R16 a P metric is ok...
I don't get it. Using the VIN decoder on this site doesn't show me that it's got any type of HD package...
