Default Pros/cons of true dual and single exhaust?

I've already figured out how I would do a true dual exhuast, but as title says I'm wondering what's the pros and cons of running say a 2.25 or 2.5 true dual vs 2.5 or 2.75 single exhaust with a single in dual exit? I'm looking for more tq to pull trailers and move the truck around town better. Don't throw cost into the mix because I already know my true dual setup will be twice as much. This is going on a 98 4.6 Scab
Thanks In Advance
Wes

The single in dual out exhaust system will add more hp and torque. That's why most Pre fab kits are configured this way.

Unless your "true" dual incorporates a H or X pipe.

In my experience the best sounding truck exhaust systems are single 3" into dual 2.5".

We had a family owned exhaust shop for 20 years and I sold it a little over 5 years ago, so I have heard and built a ton of exhaust systems! Lol

The muffler I wanted to use was the dynomax ultra flo x, bc it had a built in x pipe. Would 3" in 2.5" duals be too big for my little 4.6? I would be afraid of losing too much back pressure/ torque. I want to free up some but not too much. Was also planning on deleting or gutting the rear cats.

No 3" isn't too big. The single pipe combined with your muffler with provide some back pressure.
Yes you can delete the rear cats as they are very restrictive.
The front cats are Pre cats and flow pretty good.

i have true dual 2.50" pipe. rear cats removed and no muffler with 4" tips 45'ed out the back bumper. loud as hell and sounds good. deep tone and roar. not really sure on the back pressure and if it decreased hp or tq or increased. seems about the same.

X pipe will only be effective if it is being used as a flow balancer. Otherwise it is useless.

I removed my cats all together when i went with lt headers, it put a cel on but i have a programmer and shut them off. 2.5 dual is a good size or 3 single. should have gains not loses.

I want to get a programmer later, but need something that won't adversly effect it for now. I could probably put on some cel eliminators from a mustang shop.
