Pre-roadtrip check list?
So long story short I got a "local" job so I have to drive down to San fransisco. It's about a 15 hour, 900 mile run from my house to there, what should I be doing as far as prep to go down there? So far I've done an oil change, trans fluid change, changed the air filter, rear diff fluid, and I'm going to buy a set of 33" highway tires because there's no use in driving that amount on my good tires lol.
I put a lot of miles on the truck since I put the new coolant cap on and I no longer have disappearing coolant so I think that' fixed but I'm still bringing 7 gallons of water (it's a little waterbox that's on Craigslist I'm going to pick up), a gallon of coolant, a gallon of oil, and a bottle of ATF. I also have all my tools (mainly wood working but I have a full wrench and socket set) so I think I'm good, but does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I should do before I leave and what I should bring? Work starts on the 25th, so I'm probably leaving on the 23rd just in case the truck breaks down and I need to buy a beater car or something.

I think you've about covered most of it. Drive slow, and go easy on your truck. It should be fine

Duct tape, ratchet straps, zip ties, I don't go anywhere without those. They come in handy more than you would think.
Another thing I would check is your spare tire, cross bar or socket for lugs and a jack that will work with your truck. Nothing worse than having a flat you can't change, and people won't stop for some guy flagging them down lol trust me.

I have a couple rolls of gorilla tape on hand at all times, learned that lesson the hard way lol. I also have cable ties (just big zip ties), multiple ratchet straps, 5 of the 4" ones, a tow strap, and a 30' chain.
I put air in the spare a couple days ago and it seems fine but I think I'm going to put it on the truck just to make sure. It is equivalent to a 33, and I run 35's, can I put it on and do a loop around the neighborhood just to make sure it's good to drive on? I plan on getting a set of 33's for the trip so it'd be the same size, I just want to see if this is safe to drive on or not.
I have a cross bar along with sockets / a breaker bar to take lug nuts off, I have 2 of the bottle jacks but I think if I have space I'll bring one of our floor jacks and 2 jack stands just because I don' like to use a bottle jack. I also have multiple 2x6 scraps I always keep in the truck if I need those to chock the wheels or put on the jack. I also have the reflective triangles in case I need to put those out.

dont know the last time you swapped out your Tcase fluid but something to consider and is easy as hell to do, check your tire pressures before you roll off too. other then that I think you kinda covered it

I'd make sure your emergency brake is in good condition; depending on where you'll be in San Fran it's a must have and don't forget to turn your wheels. Even if you're on relatively flat ground.
Have you ever been down there?

I would say if it's the same size as the tires you're going to be running, the air pressure is correct and it's not in bad shape then you're prob good. 900 miles isn't too bad I drove from NM to southern CA, through Vegas and back with no issues on my 200k mile truck without a hitch.
What does not having a hitch on your truck have to do with the distance you drive?

Hitch = Issue / Problem ?
