Do Power Locks Mean Keyless entry? I hope so!
I bought my truck over the summer, but when I bought it the owner claims he only had one key, and no key fobs. It is a 97 xlt scab and it has power locks from the factory. Does this mean one of the previous owners lost the key fob or that my truck simply doesnt have keyless entry? I ask because on ebay there are a bunch of listings for keyless entry remotes w/ "free programming," and I was wondering if all I have to do is replace the remote and program it. Do any of you have any experience with these ebay listing for the keyless remotes?

i bought a fob off ebay for my mustang and theres a way to program it by turn the ignition on and off like 10 times while holding the lock button. Im not sure if its the same but i would guess it is.
there is also a utube video to teach you how to do it

I have a friend that works at a used truck lot and he gave me an extra fob for my truck. It is very easy to program. Faber is right but it only takes like 8 times and then you are good to go!!

Remote entry
I have a 97 XLT Scab, power locks but no remote entry also. I think it was optional so you might have a truck missing the fobs or a truck without the option. I don't know how to tell without the window sticker.

dang that really is some bad news. There has got to be a way to check without the window sticker because that is obviously long gone. Is there any equipment that I could look for in my truck that would indicate the presence of a keyless entry?
If the only option is to get a security system I would rather spend the money elsewhere, unless there are some really cheap ones with keyless entry because I really dont keep anything too valuable in my truck.

doesnt keyless entry refer to the number pad? and then remote entry is the clicker thing?
mine has both but when I click it or type it in, nothing happens, I think something went wrong in the door because I hear a noise but nothing happens. the best way for you to fin out would probably be to have the vin number run and see what options it has, that should work. or find out where the reciever for it is then see if you have the reciever
