Under 15 psig of pressure, 50% glycol needs to be 265F to boil , and cap would be venting.
This fluid/gas has to pass thru radiator to get to that point....and still be that hot
Btw, your heads are cooked at 240F.
If its gas, its blown hg. Either way is bad. Bubbles in reservoir isnt a bad ect.

I dont know about the accel issue.
Typically, leaking hg means replace engine, or scrap truck. Unless do it yourself.
Book labor is same as replacing engine, 20 hrs. Need to remove cab or pull engine really.
Its simpler to replace engine and not muck with heads, cams, timing, etc.
Most wouldnt pay $2000 for repair on old engine. If only got 86000 miles, you might.
Another issue, is that often people let problems go until have no choice, and it does additional damage. You can spend half the repair cost , then find out the block surface is etched or damaged or cause was a crack....and have to replace anyway.
