Popping noise from control arm

Popping noise from control arm
Hi All,
I'm new to the website. My 2001 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 is making a popping noise in the control arm. I have looked under the truck and had someone turn the steering wheel all the way left and right and just before the steering wheel turns as far as it can, the control arm pops. When it pops, the control arm twists back and forth, and maybe this isn't the correct terminology. When we put it on a lift, we could easily wiggle the wheels as if turning them. What parts should be replaced? Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
