Please help! Torque Converter?? Computer??
My boyfriend has a 1998 f150 and he completely replaced the transmission, solenoid, torque converter, starter and engine
It worked for a while, then it sat over winter and wouldn't start. We took it to a mechanic and he got it working and said the starter wasn't in right.
So the day it started working we drove it about 20 miles and it ran flawlessly. We stopped at a stop sign, and ever since then it only goes in reverse.
We have a lot of people telling us a lot of different things. Possibly a torque converter again because they didn't fill it up with transmission fluid??

Only reverse? Internal problem, not the converter. Could be the shift link, valve body problem, pressure seal, etc. Is the fluid level up to the correct point on the stick? Stupid question, but did he use Mercon V for the fluid? I've seen where people put in a different fluid and all hell breaks loose. Just wondering.
