Default trans. slipping

i have a 2003 f150 xl 5.4 triton v8 4x4. a month ago it started jumping from time to time while accelerating from a constant speed. i've been told that it is a sensor on the tranny, has anyone else had this same problem?

Have you checked the condition of the fluid? Is it low, smell burnt, or dark looking?

That is odd. I have an 03 with a 4.6 and have experienced the same thing. Last fall, I washed the engine and it started slipping like that a day or two later. Engine light came on with a # 2 cylinder code. I found moisture on the spark plug. Cleaned it up and it ran fine afterwards. This spring I changed trans fluid and filter. It started the same thing about a week later. I had a little too much fluid so I drained some. It's only slipped once since then. I'm a little suspicious there's something else going on.

Turns out that a friend didn't know what he was talkin about, but it was actually the coil pack on the #2 cylinder. Replaced it and it ain't done it yet!

That's good to know preacher. I'll keep that in mind if mine starts doing it again. Hard thing is that last time mine did it, the computer didn't even throw a code.
