Default PATS and such...

Been having some issues with my 2001's pats with it intermittingly not starting. read the threads about taking it to the dealer for the cure. One thing that was not mentioned which happened to me this morning as i was driving was that the engine suddenly turned off and all the warning lights on the dash came on. Stopped for a few minutes and then it restarted. have not noticed any issues with moistrue ingress but will check that later today.

Never heard of that happening before but it sounds extremely dangerous. I would hit the stealership immediately! You could kill someone!

My 2000 has done that a few times as well. Only once has it been in a bad situation but smart driving stopped anything bad from happening. Did your dash go black then come back up with the warning lights and the Odometer with dashes all the way across? If so I may have the same or similar problem.

macsavage, that is exactly what is happening. Probably will take it in to the dealership this weekend. It happened once more last night.

Hopefully it won't be one of those super expensive dealership only fixes. Can't wait to hear more details on this particular problem.

So the pickup did it again on the way to my childhood home. When I started it up again the gauges spiked in the way that other posters here have described when the battery needs to be replaced. Not sure what has been found out on this problem but I thought I would toss that out there onto the fire that is this problem.

pats will only stop it from starting.the theft light will flash rapidly if thats the problem.try second key if it starts then replace key. pats wont kill it when running.

So the pickup did something similar again. I was driving in th cold and the engine cutout with the theft light flashing. The engine spooled up again without any problems. Starting to think maybe battery but nit sure since it has no problems starting up again. If anybody has any ideas feel free to toss them out here.
