Hi my airbag light always lights up when i start it up and after about 5 seconds it turns back off so i tried turning it on/off (dont know which) and it did the same thing. Is something messed up or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

No that is exactly what they are suppose to do, it is the self test upon power on.

How do I know if it's on or not then?

Oh, the key switch doesn't have the on / off position, wierd, does the light come on either way you turn it?

Well, it comes on when I start it up? I can only turn it right (dont know if thats normal) But yeah it does the exact same thing everytime so I can't really tell which is which.

What year, engine, style? I will look at the wiring diagram and see if it makes sense.

it's a 2001 xlt sport 4x4 with the 4.6

Well this doesn't help, it doesn't show the switch operation, but just from experience most airbag switch operate off=counter clockwise, on=clockwise. But here is the diagram.
