Default suspention lift questions

Ok here is my dilemma I have an 01 supercrew and right now I just have the t bars cranked with 285' s under it. I definitely wanna upgrade to 35's but kinda stuck on my decision between a bl and susp lift. I know there's probably a billion threads regarding this topic but all I ask is for honest opinions I do some mild wheeling and minor trail riding during hunting and would it significantly benefit me to go ahead and get a 5in Exxon lift or just body lift it ontop of what I already have and go with bigger tires, is the ride with the new susp lift better and smoother than it is now with the bars cranked? My last s crew had bl and keys cranked on 35 claws and it did ok just didn't ride too smooth and if anyone has any pics of the susp lift compaired to the bl to help make my decision and opinions are greatly appreciated, I wanna do this one the best way possible thanks

with either one the ride quality will stay about the same, I would personally go with suspension just because i really dont like bodylifts, all they do is let you put bigger tires on, frame and everything else stays the same height. suspension lifts the whole truck, looks better, and adds offroad capabilities

Look at my truck ive had my lift kit (5") for a long time and i love rcx they are an amazing company if you have any questions message me or post on my wall.. i have pics if you would like to see some just go on my wall i have a whole photo album i know alot about our trucks and i myself installed my lift kit and have learned all the dos and donts. Also stay away from body lifts big no no. Lift kits are way better rough country gives you the option of a 3" block (equals 4" lift all around) and a 4" block. I would recomend spending a little more money and buy the upgraded shocks rcx offers and i would buy the 2.5 level keys so there is less stress on the bolts.. im putting the keys on this weekend and adding a leaf in the rear and im going to jack it up to 7"s of lift and when my 35x17x12.5 toyos wear out im gonna buy 37s. if have the specs for trimming the front vallence (only a little so when turned all the way it does not touch at all) also i can help you with any questions you have on installing the lift rough country did a very breef install manual. the lift kit does require a 4.5 back spacing on your rims. any other questions just hit me up.

Hey man I appreciate it a lot, I want to set mine up just like yours even with the toyo mt now do you have the torsion bars cranked now and that's as high as it will go so aftermarket keys will give ya more lift because your arms don't look too bound up now so it wouldn't hurt to go another inch or two

What r u talking about? R u saying everyone with a suspension lift tears up tires and has alignment issues? I heavily disagree and advise the op to disregard this. If u do it right, your truck will have better potential than stock for off road applications. A body lift is not a favored option over a suspension lift to gain height. The mounting points for the spacers are not near as strong as those of a suspension lift. I'm not an alignment specialist, just an engineer that knows a thing or 2 about lifting trucks.

X2 If your tearing up tires you have front end problems not related to the lift

Omg haha the only reason people run body lifts is to lift a truck with out having to mess with anything under the truck... Body lifts are a joke!!! After you lift your truck go get it alligned and the company will let you know if there is anything you need to replace! I had to replace my idler arm and some ball joins (my truck has 150000 miles on it) and it rides fine also if you rotate and have your tires ballenced ever 3000-5000 miles they will wear like any other tire... And no problem theres not alot of people that dont have exprerience on these things i was in your position a long time ago many people just dont under stand how it all works... And no my keys are at factory hight so my truck has a 1" front rake witch means i have the front at 5" of lift and the back has six due to the fact that you run both the new block and your factory block. Dont crank your factory keys alot more because the way they sit now puts a twist preasure on the bars were a bigger key alows them to rotate holding the lower a arm up higher lifting the truck. Just hit me up for more questions!

Anything over the factory bump stop block is a bad idea anyways when lifting. 4 inches of block causes major axle wrap. Should upgrade springs or do a shackle flip. Flip that and you would have 4 plus inches right there
