Default P0340 code 4.6 new engine

Good morning,
I have a 2001 4.6 screw, just replaced engine with a new long block.
Fired it up and it runs great until about 2000 rpm, then it throws a P0340 code and falls all over its self
All sensors were replaced new with engine change out, changed CMP again ,no difference
what am I missing ?
Help in Colorado
Thanks Jim

P0340 is pretty specific.
did you look it up? Either sensor, or circuit wiring/plug damaged

Doesn't sound like a new engine IMO, sounds like a typical reman engine. Chances of getting a good one aren't that good. Used engines are about the only way to go with these trucks...only safe way with a few checks and it's cheaper.

Good Luck with it anyway, doesn't sound good though.

What on this possible causes list have you checked and ruled out? I was also wondering if you might have a chain one gear tooth off, and it causing an imbalance at higher RPMs? Just thinking out loud.

Possible causes: Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor, Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted, Camshaft Position Sensor circuit, poor electrical connection, Faulty starter motor, Starting system circuit, or Dead (Weak) battery.

The link below might help you more.

The cam timing is all that's left to check
everything else checks out

Default I know this is late

I know this is late, but if it doesn't help you ,hopefully it'll help someone else. I had the same problem. .kinda. I have an 08 f150 and got an engine from a 2010 crown vic. The long blocks are the same .Except for having to swap, timing cover, cmp sensor, and the thing that had me stumped ( after I had the motor changed and MANY 0340 CODES) THE DRIVERS SIDE CAM GEAR. The one from the crown vic only had one sensor pic up ( raised tooth) . The one from my truck had like 5 or 6, something like that. That solved the problem ,but after a new cmp sensor , new RF wiring straight to the pmc , and a new pcm w/keys. BTW you have to also change oil pan , flex plate , intake , manifolds. Couldnt find any of this info online. REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS SOME FOLKS OUT

I just did the same thing and I'm getting the same code. I appreciate your input and hopefully this is my issue, and I'm sure it is. I would've never have looked for this.
