P Codes diagnostics and Probable Causes
#82
Hello, Harold here. I have a 2003 f150 supercrew 5.4l. I have a PO303, I changed out all sparkplugs, and COP's when I decided it was time to change After quite some time I had a PO303 code pop up. I swapped COP's 1 and 3, to see if I had a bad coil. I cleared the engine light and waited..... after 2-3 weeks later the code came back..... ANY ideas! Thanks

P0308 Error Code Experience
So my P0308 (misfire on cylinder 8) turned out to be a bad wire/plug on cylinder 8. Had the wires and all plugs changed out. Not cheap but better than my worst fear of a bad gasket.

I have a code p1131 and an exhaust leak if I where to fix that leak would the code go away and what are other reasons the pump is throwing this code? It's on a 2003 5.4l f150 4.4 with 218xxx kms

8/23 - I just got check engine light and P0607 code Control mod Performance.
2006 5.4 Engine has intermittent hesitation. 151K on the clock.
8/25 - Update: I have an appointment with Ford Dealer (ouch) on Monday. I took out the Superchips flashpaq tune yesterday and the check engine lite went out and it runs just fine. SC tune, 87 Octane, has been in for 5 years. No issues until now.
Do I reflash or replace the CPU? Is it going bad? I do not want to be stranded.
Any thoughts?
8/30 - I pulled the SC tune out and went back to "stock" last week and the engine runs fine, check engine light went out. Went to dealer and they could find nothing wrong and all codes were normal. After 5 years of the SC tune, the cpu decided it was not happy. I plan to run stock tune for a month and then put SC tune back in. Service manager said he sees this a lot on diesel engines, but not on gas. I will contact SC and get some feedback from them.
