P Codes diagnostics and Probable Causes
#71
i have read that the DPFE could be the cause for the misfire and the lean codes. do you agree? but here is the funny thing about this misfire its not a constant misfire it only does it every now and then like itll drive fine then itll get rough and the idle is horrible and then itll fire every now and then on acceleration. i dont know what this could because everyone is saying its ether a solid misfire or no misfire. also thanks for the help.
p.s. i messed upp on my last post.

look i came here for help not to get evaluated. i do appreciate you helping me and i know im not the best at explaining things but i dont have the money to go and replace ever coil. i only picked up the truck (first vehicle) for $900. yes i got ripped. this weekend when im able to get a hold on some real tools i am going to do a compression test and check the resistance of the injector. i will also get my coils checked(still stock with 195,xxx miles). also are the spark plugs as big of a pain as people say? also is it bad or will it hurt the motor that i am still driving with the intermittent misfire.

P0401 and P0402 codes
This truck has 265,000 plus original miles. Check engine light came on and I checked the codes. P0401 and P0402, insufficient and excessive EGR flow. I checked the 2 hoses coming from the metal pipe that goes to the EGR. The larger of the 2 started to break up when I tugged on them. I had new replacement hoses I got at Autozone. They have the coating inside to be able to withstand the heat. Erased the codes and they came back. I got a Motorcraft original DPFE15 sensor as I have read the aftermarket ones don't last long. Once this was replaced and codes erased, the check engine light hasn't come back on in more than a week.

It has reset. Did you clear the codes recently? Usually takes about 50 miles for that reset code to go away. Some tines if you have a bad connection the computer will reset on start up.
