On the street? No reason.

There are places for that, in the proper vehicle. And a 15 year old truck is not the proper vehicle lol

The 85 mph limit is on a 40 mile stretch of a toll road that is heavily patrolled by DPS, so no need for over 85 there.
I have driven many miles on the 80 mph sections of I-10 and truthfully think that is fast enough. I do like the 75 mph limit on most highways outside larger metro areas.

Speed is besides the point his truck isn't right, he should be able to do 85 without issues.

Exactly, thanks. The point is its not fixed all the way and why fix something half way? Not how I like to do it.

Also I have been told that water is better at dealing with heat than coolant especially with water wetter but then I have had some people tell me, that's not true since 50/50 has a higher boiling point. Which is true? Would 50/50 help it stay cooler?
I also read with no t-stat the water flows to fast to cool off in the right way?

Should I buy a new cap? Or is there any good way to test to see if it's bad?

NOTE: I drove 3 miles to work today and the right heater hose is hot and the left one is cold.

SOLUTION

So I fixed it, replaced literally every part in the cooling system besides the hearer core. It was my water pump. It was so bad the impeller practically rusted off the pump. So I think when I flush the system by adding the new radiator it must have done it since It was so old. A co-worker of mine has a Ford Taurus and the same exact thing happened to him. So if your having the symptoms I had check the water pump!

Sorry but I'm having problem connecting to the site. When the CHT sensor detected overheating the PCM will disable half of the fuel injectors and Ignition Coils.

It's also mentioned on the Owner's Manual.
