Overdrive doesn't engage 2001 5.4 SuperCrew
Hello all!
I have a '01 5.4L SuperCrew.
Before I explain my problem, I'll start what happened before the problem.
My transmission broke down, so it needed a rebuild or a replacement. The O/D light started flashing already.
So I opted for a replacement. Much cheaper than a rebuild over here.
I bought a '94 4.6L Thunderbird (the whole car) and replaced my transmission with that one.
Rebuild transmission: €2500 ($2800)
Thunderbird: €950 ($1000) I sold the car a little later, so actually I paid €450 ($500) for the transmission.
I drove the T-bird for several weeks, just to ensure everything was OK and it did. It shifted in every gear and the overdrive was working like it should.
Fast forward. The T-bird transmission works fine in my truck (they're identical), but the overdrive doesn't engage and the light is still flashing.
We hooked it up on the computer, but it's doesn't give any codes.
One more thing. The button works fine, when I don't start the car. I can turn it on and off.
I've been looking for weeks on the internet to find a solution, but nothing to solve it.
My mechanic thinks it's a switch or relais, but I can't help him to locate it. He mainly works with Euro cars. I'm from Belgium
Does it even have a relais or switch to control the overdrive?
Or is it the PCM? Because O/D light is an output signal from the PCM.
Maybe someone has a wiring diagram, so we can follow the path.
Any input and help, would be appreciated!
Many thanks!

Here is a complete 2000 up wiring schematic. Give this to your mechanic and hopefully he can figure out the wiring problem, if that is your problem. I'm fairly confident that you are using an AODE-4r70 transmission since it was from a TBird. It must also be a 2wd truck. If you need more from my service manual, just ask.
