ordered my edge evo

ordered my edge evolution today. $359 w/ free overnight shipping. i cant wait to get this thing. it was also a partial fathers day present for my dad because he and my mom own a 99 expy with the 5.4 and they sometimes use it to pull a 17 foot travel trailer and could used the towing setting (one time from california to tennessee and back). i figured we could also use it in the expedition if we take a long trip (set it for economy)

Let us know how you like it.

will do. my only worry with it is that it looks rally easy to steal. i dont want to have to go through the setup every time.

Couldn't you just pop the unit out of the pod and unplug the wire? leave the empty pod and wire there and unhook the wire from the OBD port as well..that way when you need it, just connect the 2 ends.

im not sure. ive never seen one in person before so im not sure if i can do that or not. if i can ill probably do that. i just dont want to have to wait 2 minutes for it to update every time i need to go somewhere. i should have ordered it sooner. the overnight shipping isnt going to be overnight since i ordered it on a friday evening :/

turns out i cant do that. every time its unplugged, you have to go through the startup proceedure (at least that my understanding).

yep but all the startup proceedure is is a warning disclaimer for the first 3 startups but to be honest with you it is a pain in the ass to take it in and out of the pod!!

green machine 06-25-2009 02:53 PM

do you have to do the startup proceedure (the loading screens you get when you first set it for a specific power level that last about 2 minutes) every time you unplug it?

green machine 06-26-2009 04:37 AM

ok well it looks like i can take it out every time. i just need to make sure the key is on when i plug it back in. i think the only time im going to take it out is when im going to be away for a while and my truck will be at home. i dont want to just go out to my truck and out of habbit start it up with the programmer not plugged in. if its not set to stock im afraid it will mess something up

well, i can honestly say, with it set on towing, i can really feel the power increase. i gained back all the power i lost from the bigger tires, plus some. i also did a scan test and was able to clear out a code i had. i really like this thing
