Must be why the basic package work trucks came with them and the Lariats, king Ranches, and Lightnings had them painted.

Chrome is as bad as black when over done, it's all about balance.

I had a chrome surround, then painted it. My dad hates it, but I love it. It contours a lot better with the truck.

Haha, you should hear my dad if he ever hears me talking to my nieces fiancé about blacking out stuff on my truck. He's old school, born in 1944. Back then chrome was the shizzle. Not anymore though. I used to love my chrome too, but now I think it looks less ricer/beaner when there's less/no chrome.

Yes it is! Though you should black out your vertical grille bars like I did, it makes the horizontal chrome bars really pop.

Now it all makes sense now. chrome is nice in moderation, but it stuck out in a bad way when the surdound was chrome. I like things to blend together well. Next I plan on painting the chrome pad silver.

...maybe.

I seen where you were talking about doing it way back! But how did you wind up going about it? Black vinyl?
