Default Okay.... Please Help!!! Quickly! Tranny Problems!!!

Okay quite the unusual thing happened to me a couple minutes ago. I was pulling into the drive and as I tried to put it into park, it wouldn't go past Reverse. So I put it into drive to pull the rest of the way up the drive, but instead of driving, it just rolled down the incline of my driveway. As I added gas, it just revved up. So I put it in "neutral" and it was reverse... I backed out, parked on the street, driving in "2nd Gear", which drove like it was 1st. I put the parking brake on and sat there. Then realized, (Now this is where it gets a little weird), Park, was nothing, couldn't shift to it. Reverse was Park, Neutral was Reverse, Drive was Neutral, and 2nd Gear was Drive. What the hell just happened to my truck? I know it's a tranny prob, and I really don't feel like having to buy a new truck. Is this serious? Is it a slippage? I'm not much of a mechanic so I really have no idea. But I drove home in "2nd Gear". But... it was drive? Anyway please help!

Most likely your column shifter is loose its not big deal easy fix and yes if the shifter is loose than most likely you were in drive when it was readin 2nd
