Yea , - make sure. These engines only leak oil after they've been abused or neglected. Something happened, - she got hurt.

Head gasket goes in one of these V8's, - you can have it. It's not even worth the headaches to come, - most likley in the near future IMO.

___________

Since you didn't tell us which Ford your referring to, I'm not going to waste time explaining which model years had the gasket problem...The "burr problem".

yeah sorry it's an 03 5.4 v-8 f150 which I believe they had fixed the burr problem by then. I'm not looking forward to head gasket problems.... Replacing that and tuning it up afterwards is going to cost just a little less than swapping a new motor in... Was thinking I should just run it till it quits and then put a new one in.... Don't want to but it might come to that.

Its sucking the oil out of the valve covers when you lift off the throttle. I'm currently having a similar issue with my 97. You have a bad pcv valve. I would run a oil seperater.

so replace the valve, and pardon my ignorance but how do I run an oil separator/what does it do?

Same way they do with air compressors. I've seen guys just mount one on the firewall.

Use a oil seperator inline on the PCV hose. Its catch the oil vapor only and prevents it from collecting in the intake.

so it won't stop my losing oil problem but it'll stop the misfire?

I'd burn that milky stuff out of there. Take it for a 30 mile or 40 mile drive, that'll clean the valve or cam covers up inside and they'll probably stay that way now that's it's warmer.
Right after you dio that I'd change the oil, PCV valve and make sure you have a Motorcraft PVC valve in her. It SHOULD be a little easier on oil if your running the right stuff. According to Ford , there's nothing wrong with your motor. Using one court every 1000 miles is okay, according to them.

I might try that first, see what happens. I doubt it stops the misfire, but burn as much crap as you can out of there, -then change the oil after you shut it off.

Don't get me wrong, if you want to go ahead and connect separator right away, I'm all for that as well, it's a good idea. You can dip stick your lower intake, - to see how much your carrying if you want as well.
