Default Od light blinking truck wont move!

Hey guys,

I have a 2000 F150 5.4l 7700 series (not sure on the tranny)

I really need some help. I know its an issue with the tranny. I started the truck up and went down the road and came to a complete stop and then gave it some gas and the truck wouldnt move. It didnt just rev up, it chugged hitting the gas like it wanted to stall. Then i looked down and the OD "off" light was flashing constantly. Got the truck home in reverse. Did not want to go forward. I need advice!

It should be the 4R100 bein its a 7700. Get it to a shop unless you're very familiar with automatic transmissions. The OD light flashing means there's a fault in the transmission. Just like the CEL will flash when there is a misfire. Could be a shift solenoid, could be the planetary gear shot. No way to tell without either running codes if it stored any, or tearing it down.

The check engine light is on as well. I cant get the truck out of my driveway to have the codes read. I just traded my truck for this, is it worth putting my money into?

It may be or maybe not. You dont have any pics or much information other than what you initially said. You still have the 96 listed as your primary. Only you can tell if it was or is worth it. If it is a tranny, I hope you have some dinero stuck away for a rainy day. If so, this may be that day.

Your best bet is buy an inexpensive reader and see what your codes are. Without them, no one can give you an honest answer. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I have no clue what is going on. I have driven a 1996 F150 5 speed for ever and decided to trade it cause it was having issues being road legal. This truck ran fine the other day it was just very cold tonight and im thinking a solenoid valve is hung up or something.

You can rent scan tools at an auto parts store. I think its around $150 for the deposit. At least around here they do. Figure out the codes first, then decide whether its worth the money.

Go to an O'reilly store, explain the situation and they will probably loan you a scan tool. They may have to have your credit card on file, but either way it'll tell you your issue.

One of the boxes got wet, I'll bet. Was it raining or snowing when your problems started? Do you have any interior water leaks you know of? Just thinking with the key pad.
