Default no start, no crank, no clicking

so it's been a long time since i've had to work on my truck and it has been sitting for a year and now it won't start.

I just took the battery to autozone and they charged it up and said it was still good. got back home, dropped the batter in the truck, turned the key, all the electronics turned on and the fuel pump engaged but that was all it would do.

i'm hoping somebody might be able to point me in the right direction but right now i'm planning on changing the starter and the starter solenoid

If it hasn't been turned over in a year maybe the crankshaft froze up. I had that happen to me when I rebuilt motor but it sat for like 10 months before I put the motor back in. The damn crank had froze up sitting and I had to break it free by towing the car and popping the clutch in the process. The tires squealed for like 20 yards and finally the crankshaft turned and the motor started.

Do you hear the starter engaging or clicking when you turn the key?

Sounds like starter...

Even if the engine was seized you would hear it try to engage and you should be able to see the serpentine belt jerk a little.

If there's no response at all then it's the starter

Starter, or wiring. Give the starter a couple love taps with a hammer and see if it will crank.

While turning the key use a long metal rod, (I have used a socket extension, but rebar will work) and tap the starter several times.

Hehe, well, I meant, with a friend helping you.

Although I will say, while alone, I rigged the rod just so, and then when I tried to start the truck, I shook the truck a bit to get the rod to fall on the starter....didn't work then either.
