Default No right rear turn signal/brake light

Hi all

2001 F150 supercrew here. I have no rear right hand turn or brake light. I have parking/driving lights. My boat trailer also has the same situation.

Do I have a bad fuse somewhere? I reviewed all my trailer harnesses and it seems sound. I don't know what else to check. EVERYTHING works including trailer marking lights, driving lights. I just don't have brake/turn signal on the right hand side. Thanks for any advice you can lend. I appreciate it.

The wire harness back there falls apart with time. Just a matter of troubleshooting it.

If the truck has the factory tow wiring package, a single fault in the rear of the truck cannot take out both the trailer and the truck's RR turn/stop lamp.

Your problem has to be either the plug in connecter in front of the axle or for a broken wire for the stop/turn on that side. As was said, that would be the only area to take out just the stop/turn on one side. Check the wiring before the bed plug first.

As noted previously, "If the truck has the factory tow wiring package, a single fault in the rear of the truck cannot take out both the trailer and the truck's RR turn/stop lamp.".

What that means: If the truck has the factory towing package, the problem has to be either under the hood or in the cabin unless there are two faults.

I own a 2002 F150 and last year had the exact same problem. I went through all the usual fixes including replacing the tail light assembly. Using a test light I traced the wire all the way forward along the frame and had no juice coming from the front of the truck. Took it to my mechanic and he said it was the turn signal indicator on the steering column. I found it hard to believe because the front turn signal worked, but he swapped it out and it fixed the problem.

Wondered about this too after reading your post so I looked it up. Right and left are ganged switches for a separate front and rear circuit.
