Default newbie seeking info

Hi guys and gals.

My name is marcus and I'm from the uk.
Ive just sold my kit car and fancy something a little different.
never owner an American vehicle yet .
ive been looking at f150s of late . I'm hoping to view one this weekend
what should I be looking out for .. and common issues or faults.
all info is appreciated

Look of general condition items, ask if they have receipts for maintenance. If these trucks are taken care of they can last a long while.

the one I'm viewing today is a 4.2 v6 quite a basic spec but looks ok
I'm off to viw a v8 lariat next week too way better spec but more expensive . this one was used by ford for promo and is top spec

The Lariat sounds like a nice one. If I were looking, I'd stick with a loaded later model w/5.4L. A SCrew if you have children, SCab if you want more bed, Single Cab short bed 4x4 for mud/dunes.

The 98 plus models have the improved gaskets. 97's didn't get them because testing was still being done at Daytona and wasn't completed/approved in time to make it into the 97 models. The improvements/upgrades were to handle the harsher synthetics back then. Absolutely NO engine failures because of any of this. You are very wrong, misinformed and don't know diddly about these gen 10 models.

The plug problem and fix is for the 4.6L, 5.4L and V10. All using the same heads. The V10 in the category because the heads are identical to the problem, having 2 additional cylinders doesn't change anything for this issue...it's the same casting plus 2.

Ford won the class action suit, but the issue was determined and solved by 3rd party engineers. This is very well known and solved a very long time ago. The fix requires torquing/reffing on the plugs more to solve. Adjusting torque to 28' lbs vs the spec 15' lbs from the manufacturer. The plugs won't eject and retain torque value.

Yea, stay away from anything with rust if you can. Once they start to visibly rust. They are already rusted much worse in the areas you can't see.

Personally, I don't think these trucks look good on 20's, but that's personal preference. These trucks will last a long time mechanically if they were maintained and taken care of. Rust is a major problem though, stay away from that. Other than that, this generation of 150 is one of the best.

Right the 4.2 was mechanically sounds but bodywork was poor so that's out.
Off to look at the 5.4 v8 lariat on Sunday..any specifics I should look for .it's got leather and electric tonneau too Sat on 20S
Haha you are fine. Make sure all the power options work. Make sure that the back glass doesn't leak. Check for rust around the rear fender wells and rockers under the doors. That will tell you a lot about the truck.

just want to clarify something.. fender wells and rockers under the doors.. I'm in the uk and we do have different names for things .
fender well... wheel arches
rockers ... sills

would this be correct
