Bought the old boat as a project, needed a new motor and a little love. Put a fresh long block in it a new impeller in the outdrive and used it for 5yrs with no issues. When it sunk I made money on it with the insurance, plus bought it back for $600 because it has a tandem axle eagle trailer that's worth a grand and the motor and outdrive are still good because the motor was pickled when it was recovered. I figure the motor and OD combined are an easy thousand, so I'll make even more.

Sold the sunk boat for $1700 after buying it back from the ins co for $600. I gave full disclosure of what happened to it to the new owner.

Totally disagree. Don't buy a pile of crap, treat it right and be handy. We have a pontoon for 3 years now. We love it!

hahaha!!!!! There's a reason everyone knows that saying. Boats are money pits. Maybe minimal maintenance on a party barge is different.

I bought it at 5 years old and it has a 4 stroke Yamaha. I do all the maintenance just like on my cars. It has not been a money pit, mainly due for all the reasons I stated!

Can't wait to get a boat, but they are money pits lol. I've been broke down on the water and I must say, I prefer breaking down on the road.

Hell no man. At least on the water I generally have a stocked cooler, sunshine, and a fishing rod. Lol

I have boats and they are no different than owning a truck. Just depends on how you maintain them and using marine grade ethanol treatment.

Stuck on the lake the first hot week of summer for 4 hours=sun burnt as hell, haven't got the tan going on yet lol. We have a 2 stroke so its hit and miss on reliability like all two strokes.

If you can avoid it, don't use that ethanol crap in any motor that sits around.
