New to me 2003 FX4 - How to make all doors open when drivers door opens?
I swear - I thought this would be an easy one - and maybe it's not possible. I just picked up a very nice 2003 FX4 that I needed for some chores and hauling. Everything works great, but when I turn off the truck, and open the driver door - none of the other door locks will unlock automiaticallyt. Is that common on this year? Is there a way to change that so that all the doors unlock upon the drivers door being opened? Here's a pic for fun!

All Ford's should open from the inside at any point in time, regardless if the drivers door is open (unlocked) or not. They are self unlocking from inside when you pull the handle.
If your rear doors are not working, see if there is a child lock switch on it.

... And if you're looking to have the doors automatically unlock when the ignition is turned off like many other vehicles do (or can), this is not an available feature. You can enable/disable automatic *locking*, though.
FWIW, I think having all the doors unlock when you turn off the ignition is a stupid and unsafe feature in the first place.
P.S. Being able to open the door from the inside without having to pull up on a **** or flip a "switch" is great. A design I think is even better is GM's "double-pull" to open where the first pull on the handle does nothing, the *second* one unlocks and opens the door.

Gotcha. You'll just have to get into the habit of hitting the "unlock" button on the driver's door as you get out.
P.S. Looks like you found a nice one. Congrats!

Thanks for letting me know! I'll get into a new habit! Hopefully the truck turns out to be a good one. I collect arcade machines and was tired of renting a trailer everywhere I went, so this will fill a very nice void! So far, I have only had it one day, but it's been an extremely nice and fun truck to drive!

You can always install an aftermarket alarm that will do it for you.

I'm sure you can wire it up so that when the front door unlocks it sends a signal to the rear door motor to unlock as well. Dig into the wiring diagrams and you can make it possible. Just gotta be flexible as this won't be plug and play
