new fuel pump fuel guage dont work

hey men installed new fuel pump and sender in 2001 f150xlt 4.2l truck cranks runs fine but sender unit not working right stays above red mark and i have @8 gals in a 21 gal tank any suggestions.thanks for looking...

The float is probably stuck or caught on something. Happened to me when i did my fuel pump.
