new to fords. looking for opinions on an f150

Hey guys.
I am looking at a 2000 Ford F150 XLT super cab. It has power windows, power locks, air, cruise, and a cd player. I was surprised to see it had a manual 5 speed with the 4.2 v6. I'm ok with this as the truck is two wheel drive and I've sold a 2011 ram with a hemi that was 4x4. I have enough left from the sale of my ram to purchase this truck outright in cash as I'm just trying to keep a truck for truck uses while getting rid of the payment on my ram. The ford only has 74k miles on it and runs great. They want 8k for it. Do you guys think this is an ok price. I've never owned a ford before. Had a few new chevys and the ram new. Thanks for your help.

That sounds a little high to me, I picked up a 2002 screw lariat loaded 5.4, 4x4 granted it has twice the mileage but these trucks will run a long time when taken care of. I paid 8 grand for mine and it was a FL truck. Just my thought.

$8000 is a bit high for only the 4.2. $6500 is where I think it should be.

I would keep shopping! The 4.2 is not as good of a motor as the 4.6 and 5.4 and 8000 sounds outrageously high for that truck.

You wouldn't even pay that price up here in Alaska. Especially for a 2wd, 4.2 V6.

I looked at an 01 SCrew yesterday, 117k, 5.4 Lariat, 4x4, leather and it was $7,000. I ended up buying an 03 KR for 8900. It has a broken taillight and bent rear bumper, otherwise its perfect. I found the bumper today for 85 and had the taillight so I came out like a bandit. The KR has 106k on the clock. So, you can do much better that the one you listed. You just have to look, and since you have the cash, you can make some great deals right now on the Generation 10 trucks. I'll post some pics next week. Good luck with the hunt.

I was just on Dayton's Craigslist and saw all types of F150's for a lot less than what that guy wanted for his 00. There is even an 07 F150 2wd for $6000. Why spend so much on the older unit? There are so many trucks available in your area. You just have to look a bit. Good luck.

Hey fellas thanks for the advice. I got the truck for 7200.00. Cash makes a big difference when negotiating. It's in great shape. Thanks again. I'm sure ill have other questions in the future. Hopefully this truck will last a long time with only 74k on the clock.
