I installed the speakers today (I really need to invest in interior removal tools...) and they are 5 times better than stock. I can actually turn my bass up a little, and the treble is great. Well, for $60 they are great. Haha.
I installed the new Sylvania Ultra bulbs and restored my foggy headlight lenses. MAN, they are SOO much better. Def worth the $55 I spent.
Before:
After(it got dark out, I'll snap a pic of the lights installed tomorrow) :
Tomorrow I plan on doing a little debadging, cleaning the interior, and possibly smoking the tail lights and side markers.
I'm trying to decide on whether to buy a catback exhaust or 2"/4" lowering kit. I think I'm leaning towards lowering it atm.
Any opinions on whether I should do a few performance things to the 4.2 or look for a 5.4? The 4.2 has a decent aftermarket support, but I could probably get a 5.4 for a good price. Decisions decisions.

Imho unless you are planning to use this truck in competition motor sports - dont waste your money looking for “performance” out of these engines- to get serious gains, serious engine work needs done- use the search function and look for Gotts mod and zip tie mod.- cheap and easy, and, for a daily driver, its really about all you need.-even so called “performance” high flow mufflers are of dubious gain.
These are pretty decent engines out of the box, but remember, they are truck engines, and engineered as truck engines, and not,by far, the latest technology!
Spend your dollars on good maintenance items- keep her in ship shape and enjoy the memories of your grandpa as you drive your dependable old truck.

Thanks for the compliments and advice guys!
So I went to remove the badging to find that there are holes behind them, so I smoked the badges instead. I Really wish I would have known, because I really like how they look smoked. I also tinted the tail lights (not too dark, but just dark enough to match the maroon color) and took the dealer stickers off. I really like how the truck is starting to look.

Grandpa could look great if I ever get around to polishing it!

I'm actually taking Grandpa on a drive to Johnstown today. When it eventually stops raining.... lol.... I'll have to take some shots of the ol Ford there. Very old school industrial American steel town.

Now an XLT in Colorado
I'm interested in how you did your taillights as I'm looking to do the same thing on my '03. I want just a "dark-cherry red" look, not blackout. I'm assuming just a couple of very light coats of NightShades?
The truck is looking good!

I used the rustoleum gloss lense tint for my badges. Also works great and is very cheap. I wouldn't be afraid to use that instead of the plastidip. It's like 6 bucks at Walmart.

To do a v8 swap into that truck you will have quite the undertaking. You will need a new ECM and engine wiring harness at the bare minimum to run a 4.6. The 5.4 will eat the m5od trans unless you upgrade a few parts.
