nerf bar install
Hello all, just installed a set of nerf bars onto my 1998 xl. according to the ad this was a no drill install. however the mounting plates were too large and I had to do some modifications to the rocker panels so they would go in because they were larger than the opening. I also had to alter some of the washers so they would fit over the bolts. just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem when installing these bars.

Sorry never heard of that. I would call or contact the maker. I have to replace mine very soon because they are rusting out. What kind did you buy? Let us know that way we can avoid that type.

I spoke to a female at the place that I ordered these bar's from. and she apologized and gave me an immediate refund of $15 for my troubles. she also said to send her pics of the parts in question and that they would contact the manufacturer. the place that I ordered this item from was through an ebay seller called grillle4you. but when I received the bars the instruction sheet's had a business name of APS autoparts specialist inc. this is a sample picture of the nerf bar that I installed, except that it only has one step.http://d3d71ba2asa5oz.cloudfront.net/40000499/images/8820909.jpg

no, the picture is a sample picture that the seller posted. there was a fitment chart that I referenced to make sure that the bars were compatable to my veh.
