Any sort of gas leak is a danger. It is a high priority and must be dealt with. New wheels will look great, but I don't think they will looks that good on a smoldering truck.

Get everything fixed,throw a body lift and 35s on it,then you'll have a nice,safe truck

Found some 35/12.5/16 TSL super swampers with a lottle over half tread. 2 of them have more wear in the center because ball joins went bad when they were on. He wants $200. Think its a good deal guys?

Not quite correct sir.
Depending on the tire style and tread width there may be a problem.
35s on 20" will have sidewalls that do not balloon out quite as much as 35s on 16" wheels.
In my instance the Goodyear Wrangler 35x12.5x20R M/TR w/ Kevlar on the factory wheels rub the leading edge of the upper control arms at full turn even with the 2.5" Rough Country level/lift kit. Had to add 3/8" spacers to the front.
