sorry if it wasn't clear in the original post. I bought it new in 2001.

Couple of things...

1. It may seem odd, but driving a vehicle too much is easily as bad as not driving it enough. When its not run, it sits there as the seals and everything dries up and weakens. When its driven at a normal pace, all that stays lubed so it can do its job. The early C5 vettes had severe ABS module issues. Ironically, the ones with very low miles always went bad, as the ones with 100k miles were still good and operable.

2. You're in Charleston?!?! Wow... Thats pretty rare. I'd like to meet ya actually! I reside in North Charleston.

I understand the engine would have to be disassembled but can't the rings be replaced for less cost?
If the compression test had come out good, the next place I would have looked for a reason for excessive oil consumption / burning would have been valve stem seals. A compression test won't indicate your valve stem seals are good or bad, but rather if your valves are closing fully and the rings are sealing well against the cylinder walls. Again, if the cylinders held pressure, the next place to look for oil loss would have been the valve stem seals,
but unless I'm misunderstanding you, it seems you have worn cylinder walls or rings in cylinders 5 & 7, since they are not holding pressure during testing.
