Need help with spark plug issue on my 99

How did they screw up the 2V so badly? There are plenty of these things on the road with over 300K mile on them. I call that a success. I've even seen a couple old interceptors/taxi cabs with over 500K on them. Not a bad run at all.... wouldn't call that screwing up by any measure.
The 3V though, yes that is a POS.

I'm not too certain in what instance this "temporary plug" would be deemed necessary. They cost 50 bucks a piece on Amazon. Might as well fix it right to begin with. Sure.... maybe breaking down a long way from home I could see using it to JUST get back home, but who the hell is going to have one of these with them out on the road? Just seems like it might be the dumbest band-aid I've seen.
So, OP.... you never answered us.... was your truck running sans spark plugs, with the injectors still firing?

3V's were scrap 04- 07.5. The 07's with the brown coil boots were the first good, or much improved 3V's produced. But before that, what a headache lol.

Update
I finally got time to work on the truck and got lucky; sort of.
I was scared to open the bolt heads for what I thought were temporary plugs in cyl 4 and 6 but decided to do it. No socket would fit so I went nuts trying to find a metric or sae socket. I literally spent 30 minutes trying to fit a socket on the bolts. Then I stuck a magnet down the holes and out came the bolts to reveal intact spark plugs under them. Some ghetto mechanic used the bolts as conductors to rig the coils to work when that spring in the coils was damaged.
I put Motorcraft plugs in it along with all 8 new Denso coils. All codes were cleared and it started on the first try. It ran super smooth and from a dead stop the acceleration was very strong compared to before. I drove it 4 days before it threw the dreaded cat code P0420. It also developed this thing I call “full time cruise control”. Virtually at any speed if you let off the throttle it will hold said speed until you brake. If you take it up to 20 mph and get off the gas it will actually accelerate to 22 mph on its own. Brake wear will be horrible like this. It should be noted that the code started about 15 miles of driving after refueling if contaminated gasoline can cause the downstream oxygen sensor to tell the PCM that the cat is not working. At operating temp in neutral it idles around 1000 rpm.
I am relieved the cylinder heads are not screwed up but the cat code and cruise always on thing are a PITA. This truck already saved me about $500 in delivery charges for furniture while costing about $200 ignition parts so it’s been a mixed bag.

Check the accelerator cable. They can wear and fret inside the housing causing a bind which worsens with time.
The 420, - If vehicle maintenance is up to par, erase/reset KAM memory. Then watch for the 420 to return. Previous problems mentioned may have very well cooked a converter.
