Need help finding idler arm for my truck.

I have a 98 f150 4x4 my idler arn has crapped out, I went to AutoZone, advanced there idler arms look nothing like the one on my truck. Mine had the 2.5 hole spacing but is shaped different. I will describe the best I can, where it mounts is 2 big bolts with 2.5 spacing the rod goes down to the arm that mounts to the center link
where these two connect it has a nut on the bottom so you can take them apart. The only new ones the parts store has are mad togethe. Very confused any help would be appreciated

The stuff AutoZone sells comes from China. It doesn't always look like ( or have then same quality) as factory stuff. Try going to a parts store that sell Moog parts. NAPA comes to mind. There are also some independent parts store in my area that sell better parts.

Just bolt the new design part on and drive, it is non serviceable but will more than likely out last the truck. They don't build them like they used to but that sometimes can be a good thing.

Moog sells exactly what you have. K8739T is the number for 2.5 holed idler arm. You can take that number and have it cross referenced to make sure you get the correct matching part or go buy the Moog one at a good parts house, not AZ or Oreilly's. None will have the studded rod on the bottom anymore, because of design changes that make it more stable, and have less bushing wear.

OOPS.. Proforged has the exact style you have, but the newer Moog is much better designed over the old thru shaft like you have. Problem is that Proforged only makes that design still for the 3.5 holed Idler arm. Nothing I can find anymore on the thru design for 2.5. I'm sure that they are out there still, but getting very difficult to replace with original.
