I've been an auto parts/mechanic for over 40 years, and have seen most of the vehicles from the underside as well as the outside. I always look at a part I might get from Autozone or any of those type auto parts stores. I get maybe 40% wrong and have to school the counterperson. Luckily I have my own account with a local full line parts store and don't have to go to the others very often. It is also a "jobber" account, which mean I get it at auto-shop or dealer pricing or less. Pays to have friends in the business still.
