Never gonna happen, but hey, a kid can dream right?
Or you could just go buy a new Raptor. LOL

Seriously though, go with the speakers. Train horns are for douchebags in bull-dogged bro-dozers and are useless unless you're just trying to get beat up by a new dad who just got his newborn to sleep by taking her for a ride around the block. (yes, that really happened)

Plus they're just stupid. The only video I've ever seen of these train horn pranks that I enjoyed is the one where the drive through window clerk threw a huge drink onto the driver of a truck that was getting his jollies from scaring people with his horn.

Rear axle seals?

Your truck is at the age 240k where tons of things are going to quit working.

Not only that you need tires every 2 or 3 years, and they're about $1,000

Your parents might be like me. I pay for everything for my kids vehicles. And they've never worked. Their only job is to get really good grades in school. As long as they do that they get a free ride from me. Daughter graduated college and is waiting for grad school to start currently. I told her if she comes up with $5,000, we will get her a new car. So she's working on that. She still driving the same car she got in high school 7 years later, and its getting up there.

Their stereos and subwoofers and things they got for Christmas or with money they received from birthdays from relatives

I get fairly good grades, a's and b's only. I balance my time fairly well, and they pay for insurance thats it. I replaced the ball joints last month, and new brakes last may. I put new wheels and tires on it in july, so they have some life. I resealed the rear axles in september, and havent messed with the 4wd. It works when i need it to. So theres some things i still have to replace, but i also need to save up more money for that. Every paycheck i put about 20$ towards truck parts, 60$ a week for gas (thats what kills me, 8 mpg.) and the rest into a retirement account. I finally got everything to work reliably and don't drive like an a**hole, so i figured id get something id enjoy, which will be the speakers. It's a never ending process

Yea i agree, main reason i wanted it is to scare my friends, not do it to random people or in public. Plus people are horrible drivers here in south fl, some of them might need a little scare

I have to ask which engine you have as I appear to have missed it. I get 13-15 mpg in my 03 5.4 so I'd start looking into why you aren't getting that mileage. The biggest things that kill mine are going into 4wd, cold, and running over 65mph (~1800 RPM.) City driving is an impact as well but to save a little gas money that can add up look at your driving habits and possibly you can put a little more towards upkeep on the truck.

Honestly though if you like working on the truck and take care of it then keep on doing what you are doing. A stereo is great but horns cannot be legally over 96db in most states. Keep up the good work.

It has the 5.4, but i think its just really, really tired. Even after it was rebuilt the gas mileage did not go up. I do everything i can to save gas, never have the a/c on unless its summer, accelerate slowly, all that. Its pretty much city driving for 5 days a week and then highway on the weekends. I wish i could get 13/15, but i have accepted the low mileage...oh well. Tried the rebuild but had no noticeable effect other than a power difference. It has a 30 gal fuel tank, and i get about 260 on a full tank, maybe 270. Adds up to....8.6 mpg. I love the truck but doubt it'll follow me to college/ whatever i decide to do. And yea its usually above 65 unless im in town.

Yeah... speakers get used way more than a train horn. Besides the fact that, depending on where you live, the train horn may attract police officers.

In my opinion, train horns fall under the same category and LED light bars. "Not for road use." But that doesn't stop people.
Here in GA, I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for using LED light bars or blasting their train horn.

I've had light bars on all my cars, even passed hidden speed traps with my lights on, but was never stopped for it. Though, I'm not the butt hole who uses my LED light bar as a day time running light, blinding everyone on the road. I strictly use it as a high beam for the mountain roads and for night racing events.

Technically speaking, my LED lights behind my grille are illegal. But if you aim them properly, law enforcement probably won't bother you - at least here in UT.
