Red face Mystery Solved. Duh.

I was driving back from work yesterday and noticed a clunking noise coming from under the front of my truck. I pulled over and realized that the sway bar link on the drivers side of my truck had completed broke in half. It wasn't just sheared, it looked like it was twisted, pulled, and broke. I posted pics of it. off How that happened? I have no idea.... So, this morning I replaced both sway bar links because the passenger side looked worn out too. I take it for a spin around the block and the clunking was still there! I grab my roommate and we jump up and down on my bumper to locate the sound and come to find out, the bottom bolt for a front shock had come loose. DUH! I had just replaced them and should have retightened the bolts after a few miles. The part about all of this (no pun intended) was that I never noticed the broken sway bar up to this point. So, everyone run out and check your links right now. What a day.

These trucks it's a very common thing to have the end links break like that. The new ones look very good.

Mine broke at the same point, found it after my tire blew out on the interstate. Replaced both of them yesterday, drivers side looked like it was about ready to go out too.

It's also known as a stabilizer link, I also had mine break, only it broke right in the middle under the metal sleeve. These things can be a real pain to remove, had to torch mine out.

I used an angle grinder, vise grips, and a six pack to get mine off. Haha.

Thanks. My only concern was that the torque measurement for the nut was 63-82 ft-lb and I didn't even hit 60 before the nut bottomed out on the bolt. Hopefully its good.
