you should get a soft folding cover for gas mileage easy to take off and you still have a bed of you need to haul something got mine for $250 on amazon trifold one too takes me 5 minutes to get off seals good too.

It folds down better then that the clamps wernt locked flat. It snaps together so you can drive with it open and no drilling or anything. Also got some cheap stick on lights put on one of the support beams.

i don't think he Should. You should see the front of my truck the PO never had one so the fronts beat up sorry bout the pic it's the only one I have that you can see the chips

I think a soft folding cover would be nice, but it won't help mpg at all. They showed on Mythbusters you actually get slightly better mpg with an open bed with the tailgate closed.

I also think he should keep the bug-guard. Idk why but certain trucks i like them on and others i don't. I like the guard on the OP's truck

I think my truck drags less coasting with it on and it doesn't shake as much when there's heavy wind.
