Default My New Baby - 2003 Lariat crew cab

So, only the one picture so far. I've literally owned this less than 24 hours, and it's in the shop getting some new shoes right now. Saw it sitting on the Ford lot in town a couple days ago. 2003, 107K miles. Had bad tires and a cracked tail light, and hadn't been detailed (smoker's truck, blegh). But I used that to my advantage and landed it for $8500. I feel pretty good about that, especially living in the midwest where trucks get used and abused, and it's not uncommon for used trucks to regularly be up by the 200K mark and still have people asking and getting nearly retail prices. And that works well for me too, because I only drive about 3K a year, so even in a few years, she'll still be pretty low mileage.

Here's what I'm thinking about doing to it over time:
  • Tint front windows
  • Upgrade to dual exhaust
  • Rhino liner
  • Stereo upgrade (Pioneer AVH-X4500BT, under seat sub box in back, nothing super crazy, just something you can really enjoy down the highway)
  • Maybe head/tail light updates
  • Cold air intake
  • Remove bug shield
  • Add LED footwell lighting
  • Add cabin air filter

Even as she sits, she's a pretty good looking old bird. The grille guard especially works I think, and it's one hell of a stout guard too. But as far as mods go, any other low hanging fruit you would do?

Congrats on the buy. You may want to check to see if it has a cabin air filter. Especially if it was a smoker's truck. If it does I'd replace it. If it doesn't there's a thread on here on how to add one.

Also, Yah, that guard looks pretty sweet. What company makes it if you don't mind me asking?

Good idea on the filter. I'd suspect there isn't one there at all, but I could still go pick up a charcoal infused one and stick it in there to help things along. For others looking into it, this looks pretty straightforward:

As for the grille guard, it's made by a company called Ranch Hand. I believe it's the Legend model. It would appear to be a solid $500 piece of steel. Prepared for the zombie apocalypse, I am.

Very nice truck, looks real clean

BTW...

Saw this on CL in my area for $4800, I have VIN because I was interested but logic turned me since I have a 2003 Screw. Trying to get someone I know to buy it, this truck has potential and I would like to see it grow.

That is a good looking truck right there. Do you like the lifted and leveled look or what are you going for?

That is the worst stance and ugliest wheels I've seen on this gen truck, but $4,800?!?! I could get $9,500 out of it here without doing anything to it.

You did notice it was LA craigslist right? That's what most people like to call the "Cali lean" it's a bunch of retarded people that don't like to actually see what's in front of them and make sure that there back tires rub when they go over speed bumps.

Good looking truck,I suggest taking the bug guard off the hood,it'll look cleaner in my opinion.
