Default More tire/less rim or less tire/more rim?

What weighs more? Assuming the same tire size and same rim design and material. 17v20'. AT tires, aluminum wheels, etc.

If the tire is a 35x12.5r17 or 35x12.5r20, what will give better mpg?

Nothing even remotely noticeable. Don't put 35's on something if your worried about gas mileage.

If you go to tiresize website and look at a 35x12.5R17 vs 35x12.5R20 BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2, the 17 weighs 66.5 and the 20 weighs 66.8. Now if you go in the middle and go for a 35x12.5R18, it weighs 67.6. The issue is finding the exact same tire. Even though these are all the same manufacturer, the 17 is a rated 121R E RWL, the 18 is rated 123R E RWL, and the 20 is rated 121R E BSW.

For wheels, let's go to fuel off road and look at Fuel Hostage wheels. The 17x9 5x135/5x139.7 weighs 33 LBS, whereas the 20x9 5x135/5x127 weighs 41 LBS.

...but the 20s will handle and corner better at high speed.

Also have better choice of spinners...

If the ugliness had a weight factor, those big rims would weight a ton apiece.

Should a truck REALLY be worried about cornering at high speeds?
