Default More horsepower

Ok so I know this topic has been pounded by just about everyone....but I want to know how to get more horsepower. I have a 97 4.6 that I have always thought has some good get-up-and-go considering it has 189,700. But today I was heading home from work waiting at the light, and when it turned green the alero in the lane next to me passed me! I was taken aback. I know our trucks aren't necessarily meant for speed as I use mine mostly for work but I still would like to gain a little hp. Thanks

Do the big 3 and call it a day. Intake, exhaust, and programmer. U want to be fast?...get a ecoboost or a 5.0. Trucks from our gen aren't meant to be fast, except lightnings and Harley trucks.

Well I would get a new eco or raptor if I had the money but that's the reason I'm driving a 97 lol. I know that's what I sad there not meant for speed but I had a 98 5.4 expedition before that I sold to get ny truck, anyway, it was awesome. It was stock and seemed like it had A ton of hp. I could beat many people at stop lights. I know its a different engine but I'm just looking for a little boost closer to the 5.4 I guess.

You can do a pi head swap and that would give you about 60hp I think

That's taking the whole engine apart tho

I think when you do it. It will bump the compression up to like 10.5-11 which will make you run higher octane gas unless you wanna change out the pistons too

Trickflow heads stage 2 cams, throttle body/plenum, headers and a tune. You'll be sitting at around 340 +\- 10hp because of the auto.

Edit: Pi intake or the Edlebrock with fuel rails.

Different gears will make you quicker off the line. ~$2000.

Gotta pay to play.
